Field data collection & management

Fieldbook is a powerful, feature-rich data collection and management tool for ecological fieldwork - a web app for project and data management paired with a mobile app for offline field collection targeted at botany and zoology consultants.

Fieldbook's functionality spans all phases of the consultancy project lifecycle, including survey planning, fieldwork management and data collection, species identification, statistical analysis, and vegetation community classification.

It's now in private beta and available to select customers for testing and evaluation, with public release later in 2026. Get in touch if you're interested in using Fieldbook.

A simple, effective mobile app that lets community members, landcare groups, and naturalists collect field data offline. It's used by Nature Conservation Margaret River Region for woody-weed surveys, with up to 100 community members on the app.

"The Fieldbook app has enabled us to collect weed-mapping data across the entire Capes region and has been an enormous success in its first year… The up-to-date mapping has led to better, more responsive decision making."

In partnership with the Native Seed Technology Innovation Hub at Curtin University, we're building web and mobile apps for the native seed industry - offline field collection for collectors in remote areas, plus inventory, collection tracking, and seed-quality records for seed companies.

The collection workflow is currently being tested by seed collectors in the Kimberley, with inventory features in development.

Built in partnership with the Society for Ecological Restoration, SID is the world's largest repository of seed-related data - traits and germination behaviour for thousands of plant species. SID receives 1000s of visits per month from users all over the world.

Originally developed by Kew Botanical Gardens, ownership transferred to SER in 2022, and Fieldwork Labs built a modern frontend for searching the database. In 2025 a new version added authorised data uploads, securing SID's ongoing value to the scientific community.
